Size Guide

Choosing your maternity wear can seem tricky but it's not really.

Always buy your regular clothing size when buying maternity wear.
It is cut and styled to allow you to do this and, even buying one size up can soon prove to be a mistake!

Maternity wear tends to be, in my experience, cut on the big side anyway so, if you were a borderline size (i.e. 12/14) try the smaller size first.

Mothercare is often styled big and you may even find yourself able to get away with a size smaller that you usually wear but, as a rule, your regular size will be right.
Dorothy Perkins tends to be smaller cut than Mothercare but a great fit if you choose your own size.

Jojo Maman Bebe is, on the whole, quite large fitting, especially with their "sloppy jo" style tops and feeding tops but, as a lot of their items are sold in dual sizes (i.e. L = 16/18) then, if you're a 16/18, you'll find these absolutely fine.
If, however, you're a small 16, you may find them much too large.

Blooming Marvellous, like Dorothy Perkins, do a great fit if you keep to your own sizing, as do most other makes.

Any maternity wear from Formes, if you're lucky enough to find some here, will have displayed the UK equivalent sizing which, in my experience, is accurate.

Your bust will be constantly changing during pregnancy and a good-fitting bra is essential.
Measure yourself regularly to ensure you have the best fitting bra.
Mothercare stores can help you to measure.
It is recommended that you do not measure yourself for a nursing bra until 3 weeks before your baby is due.
Your bra size will change significantly during the last few months and weeks of pregnancy and, if you measure and order too early, you may find that your bra does not fit you well when your baby is born.

How to Measure

You may find you need the help of a partner or good friend when measuring for your maternity/nursing bra.
Alternatively, visit a Mothercare store where someone will help you.

1. UNDER BUST MEASUREMENT
Measure immediately under your bust, hold the tape taut but not tight
2. FULL BUST MEASUREMENT
Measure at the fullest part.

If your UNDER BUST measurement is an EVEN NUMBER - ADD 4 inches to get your BRA SIZE

If your UNDER BUST measurement is an ODD NUMBER - ADD 5 inches to get your BRA SIZE

Now take the difference between that BRA SIZE and your FULL BUST measurement to obtain your

CUP SIZE

0 inches = A Cup 5 inches = E Cup
1 inch = B Cup 6 inches = F Cup
2 inches = C Cup 7 inches = FF Cup
3 inches = D Cup 8 inches = G Cup
4 inches = DD Cup 9 inches = G Cup

e.g.
Under bust measurement 31 inches
Full bust measurement 39 inches
Under bust size (odd number) 31 + 5 inches = 36 ''
Difference between this size and full bust measurement is 39 - 36 = 3 inches = D Cup
